A Day in the Life of Rescue: What You Don’t See Behind the Scenes
Every day, our inbox fills with urgent cries for help — some heartbreaking, some hopeful, all desperate for a lifeline.
Sunday morning, a woman stopped by PetSmart with a tiny, frail kitten — a fluffy little soul barely clinging to life. One of our fosters quickly arranged for them to come to her home and brought the kitten in for fluids and a B12 injection. Within minutes, another foster volunteered to take over care. The update was grim: “She’s fading fast. We’re giving her sugar water every few minutes. Please keep her in your thoughts.”
Even when things look bleak, we don’t give up. Because sometimes, a little hope — and a lot of love — can turn everything around.
Update! She made it through the night! Our amazing foster swooped in when she was riddled with fleas, giving her a bath, a steam, endless sugar water, and all the TLC a tiny kitten could dream of. 💖 Thanks to her dedication, this little fighter is already starting to bounce back!
Not long after that, another message came in: a three-week-old kitten, taken too soon from its mom and possibly fed cow’s milk. Our volunteers jumped into action, giving advice, coordinating supplies, and trying to give this tiny baby a fighting chance.
And then — another call. A landscaper had found four newborn kittens after their mother was hit by a car. He’s been bottle-feeding them, doing his best until help could arrive. Now we’re working to find a foster for them.
Update! We found a foster who is taking the babies
This is rescue.
It’s emotional. It’s exhausting. It’s full of sleepless nights, emergency vet visits, and endless text chains trying to find that one open foster home.
But it’s also full of heart — people who don’t look away, who step up for the most fragile lives when no one else can.
If you’ve ever wondered what your donations or volunteer hours support — this is it. The unseen, around-the-clock effort to give every cat and kitten a chance.
💖 Thank you for helping us keep saying “yes” — even on the hardest days.
