In the heart of the mission where the work is most profound,
Lucy stands her steady post on ever-changing ground.
For umpteen years and counting—through the rising and the fall,
She’s been the one who answers when the hurting voices call.
As the lead of Help Requests, she meets the sadness face to face,
Handling every heavy plea with strength and quiet grace.
She sees the daily sorrow that many couldn't bear,
The lost, the trapped, the hungry in need of urgent care.
A force to be reckoned with, she fights for every life,
Refusing to let go when a cat is caught in strife.
And though she truly dislikes every "upgrade" and new screen,
She powers through the systems, even when she’s feeling lean.
She might do it begrudgingly, with a grumble or a sigh,
But she masters every software just to help the cats get by.
Though many faces come and go as seasons turn to years,
Lucy stays the anchor, helping dry a thousand tears.
From fostering in her home to the cages that she’s cleaned,
She’s served in every corner, working hard behind the scenes.
Beside her stands a solid team, women strong and true,
The "first responders" of the group, inspired by what she'll do.
We honor her endurance and the legacy she’s built,
A champion for the voiceless, free of hesitation or of guilt.

Handling the "hard stuff" requires immense strength, and you meet every plea
