Never too old to steal hearts

This is a story of an 8-10 year old stray ginger male Stray Cat Blues trapped last winter. This poor guy had obviously been on his own for a long time and was in very bad shape. He was terribly scared, thin, had ear infections and mites, his coat was rough and dull and he had very few teeth. It was apparent that Clem had a miserable life and an uncertain future before coming into Stray Cat Blues foster care.

A trip to the vet led to his treatment for a severe ear infection, the discovery that what few teeth he had left had to be extracted and that Clem was most likely deaf.

Clem was sent to Whiskers Way Station, which is a sanctuary where under-socialized and frightened cats can rehabilitate and learn to trust and transition to a life indoors. This sweet, shy senior guy soon became a Whiskers Way Station favorite. Our hearts went out to him for all the hardship he had endured.

Over the next few months, he soaked up all the love and attention from the volunteers and more of his adorable personality started to come to the surface. Initially, he didn’t even know how to play! Soon we had him chasing the leather mouse wand, eating liquid treats and just generally getting spoiled. It was a joy to see Clem thrive in this environment.

In August, a young couple was visiting the Phoenixville Farmers Market and stopped by the Stray Cat Blues table. After they went home, they went online to learn more about us. That’s where they saw Clem’s Petfinder listing and fell in love! The rest is history. A very special happy ending!
